Deacons and Deaconesses

What are deacons and deaconessess at First EFC?

Deacons and Deaconesses are charged with the care of the church body. They come alongside the pastors and elders to assist with meeting physical and spiritual needs (Acts 6:2-4 and I Tim 3:8-13).

I have attended  FEFC for 41 years. My husband, Arnold, and I moved here from the Midwest as newlyweds. We both graduated from Cedarville College. I have a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting. We raised three sons and have 7 grandchildren. I have gone on several overseas short term mission trips.  I enjoy walking, hiking spending time with my grandchildren, and traveling.

Carol Sherick

Deaconess of Church Recording
Christ called me mid-life and I’m so grateful He did.  Never give up on witnessing the gospel to older people!
I worked in aerospace and the computer industries and retired to Las Cruces in 2007 with my husband Mike.  I enjoy the slower pace of life, the climate and the friendly people we have found here.

Rona Powell - Interim

Deaconess of Women's Ministry
Rona Powell is grateful for the mercy, grace, and forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ.  As leader of the Women's Ministry, she desires to help assure that every woman among us has the opportunity to grow in comprehending God's love, growing in knowledge and application of God's Word, and enjoying healthy fellowship with the rest of the family of God.  As we grow in spiritual maturity, we will also be better equipped to love our own families, as well as those who have yet to know the good news we know through Jesus.
